What is Functional Nutrition?
By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Functional Medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
75 minute in depth consultation to go over the findings. We’ll identify any imbalances and deficiencies in your diet and jointly agree on a personalised nutritional protocol.
Follow up consultations will enable us to fully review your programme and any changes in diet, lifestyle and/ or supplements will be tailored to suit your changes throughout the program
We use a range of laboratory tests to help identify how the body systems are functioning. Tests include: hair mineral analysis, blood sampling, urine and stool analysis to ascertain a current picture of health, any existing vitamin and mineral deficiencies, parasitic infections, or heavy metal levels within the body.
Food Intolerance Testing
Food allergy is not the same as food intolerance.
A classical food allergy is actually quite rare (such as peanut or shellfish allergy) is usually characterised by immediate and often severe reaction of the immune system to exposure to a specific food.
We’ve All Been There…
Sitting in a crowded doctor’s office waiting room, waiting, and waiting. You warily approach the front desk to ask a question to the receptionist who makes you feel more like an inconvenience rather than a welcome guest. When you finally get to see the doctor, you`re given a few brief minutes of their attention. Upon completing this short visit, the doctor promptly writes a prescription and sends you on your way.
You haven’t gotten any answers, haven’t gotten to the root of the problem, and are simply given a ‘band-aid’ to help with whatever symptoms yoy have. The prescription you’re given will allegedly help with the one issue you came in for. But as you read the label, you discover that it can cause 3 other unpleasant symptoms which surface as a side effect.
Your Labs are Normal…Perhaps You’re Depressed?
Or maybe the doctor at the clinic for women’s health services has done some testing on you, but tells you that the results look normal and you fall ‘within range’. Yet you still feel terrible and your doctor suggests and anti-depressant.
Sadly, this is often a common occurrence in our current state of ‘health care’!
A Different Approach
At Cheshire Wellness Clinic, we strive to provide a unique experience, unlike your average doctor’s visit.
Initially, we invite you in for a consultation for your women’s health services, usually spending about an hour discussing your concerns and determining how we can best help you. Before the consultation, you will fill out an extensive review of your medical history as well as what symptoms you’re currently experiencing. This questionnaire will help us determine what testing might be done. Following, we will create a treatment plan customized for your needs.
