Dermapen® Micro Needling Collagen Induction Therapy

dermapen-Cheshire Wellness Clinic

What is Dermapen micro-needling?

Dermapen is a non-surgical instrument which includes a disposable needle-tip cartridge with 12 micro-needles. It is used in the repair, renewal and rejuvenation of the skin by naturally stimulating the reformation of fresh collagen.

How does Dermapen micro-needling work?

This motorised instrument has adjustable speed and depth control whilst oscillating vertically into the skin. Thanks to its advanced control, it gives the possibility to carry out a tailor-made treatment for each and every individual and effectively focus on difficult to reach places.

In terms of pain level and depending on the needle depth chosen, you may feel a vibration on the skin or a slight discomfort in certain areas, however, local anaesthetic cream is advised when carrying out this procedure.

What are the benefits of having the Dermapen micro-needling treatment done?

The benefits of getting this type of treatment are truly significant as it treats multiple skin conditions including:

  • Stretch marks

  • Wrinkles and fine lines on the face, neck, hands and body

  • Reduces pore size

  • Tight skin

  • Calms Rosacea

  • Helps with healing of scars and wounds

  • Sun damage

  • Improves your overall skin tone and texture

What to expect from the Dermapen micro-needling treatment?

Normally, the micro-needling treatment takes approximately 45 minutes for the face and neck, however, depending on the areas of the body that you’d like to treat, the times may vary. Usually this type of treatment can easily be performed given that you’ve had a thorough consultation as well as an after-care treatment given.

In terms of the maintenance required for the micro-needing treatment, it is recommendable to take a course of three and up to six sessions every three to four weeks, depending on the part of the body that this treatment is intended for.

Side effects of micro-needling.

The side effects of this treatment are minimal and thanks to the initial consultation that you will have with Dr Thethi, any contraindication to treatment and medications will be addressed beforehand. Side effects include light bruising or looking slightly sunburned, however, it is essential to protect your skin with medical grade SPF at all times and to make sure you’re not exposed to the sun after the treatment, hot water or heat for approximately seven days.
