Profhilo® Skin Booster

The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin

How does it work?

Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.

As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.

The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

What is the difference between fillers and profhilo?

But, even though both fillers and Profhilo involve HA being injected into the face to undo signs of ageing, this is where the similarities stop.

The type of HA used in dermal filler injections is thicker and more viscous than the runny consistency of Profhilo injections. And the HA that you’ll find in fillers is combined with other ingredients, unlike the highly concentrated and purified HA used for Profhilo. So, whilst hyaluronic acid is the star of the show in both injectables, the HA used for each is actually pretty different.

Profhilo and fillers work in different ways

Once the hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have been administered, the HA pretty much stays in the place it was injected (thank goodness, or else we could end up with questionable results!). But, this is actually the complete opposite to how Profhilo works. Once the Profhilo injections have delivered their 10 shots of hydration, the HA starts to disperse underneath the skin, spreading its moisturising magic across the whole face.

Profhilo and fillers: different treatment areas

During a dermal filler treatment, only specific areas of the face are targeted – like the cheeks, deep wrinkles and lips. And whilst you can go back and have multiple filler treatments, only one area is focused on at a time. But, Profhilo treatment isn’t restricted to just one place. What Profhilo actually does is plump, refresh and tighten the whole face.

What Problems Can Profhilo Help With?

Profhilo is an excellent anti-ageing treatment, clinically proven to help with a wide range of ageing symptoms. It acts as a hydrator rather than a traditional dermal filler, and is therefore fantastic for those with tired, dull and ageing skin, as it provides overall more plump and luminous skin.

Examples of some of the signs of ageing that Profhilo can be used for include:

  • Wrinkles such as crows feet, smoker’s lines, smile lines and frown lines.
  • Saggy, loose skin – on your face, decolletage, neck, arms or hands.
  • Dull, dehydrated looking skin.
  • Sunken skin that needs more volume.

During Your Profhilo Treatment

During your treatment, we apply a numbing cream to make sure the procedure is comfortable for you. Our practitioner will mark the areas to be treated and then inject the Profhilo filler using a tiny needle. This can cause some mild discomfort, but most people find it easily tolerable, especially when numbing cream is used.

The entire treatment process usually takes under 30 minutes and has no required recovery time, so you can get back to your day straight after treatment.

After Your Profhilo Treatment

After treatment, you may experience mild swelling or bruising, although this usually goes down within a few days, leaving you with a plump, youthful appearance.

You should try and avoid touching the area & or taking part in any intense exercise for 24 hours after treatment to make sure you don’t disturb or displace the Profhilo filler.

The amount of time the filler takes to break down varies from person to person depending on the volume, type and location of filler injected, as well as the natural levels of hyaluronidase in the body. Generally, Profhilo fillers will last for around six months, though optimum results can vary from around three to eighteen months.
